Global Design Project 108 | CASE the Designer

It’s been a really big week in my household.  Last Sunday (October 8, 2017) I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl; we named her Emilia.  This week has been full of emotion, excitement, challenges and oh so much love for this new little person that grew inside my belly for 9 months.  My husband and I could not be happier; she is perfect in every way.

Since we’ve been adjusting to life as a family of 3 I haven’t had much time to make cards but I did set a goal to compete in the Global Design Project weekly so I carved out a bit of time today to compete in this week’s challenge.  This week the challenge is to CASE the Designer Brian King’s design shown below.

What does it mean to CASE?

CASE = Copy And Selectively Edit

For my design entry, I used several design elements that Brian used including:

  • Similar card layout; the rectangles in my card are rotated based on the stamp I chose to use.
  • Using a large piece of designer series paper as the background of the card.
  • Use of the Ribbon of Courage stamp set; Brian used this stamp set for the Heart only and I used it for all the stamped images on my card.

I decided to use the Ribbon of Courage stamp set not just because Brian used it in his original design, but also because October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month.  1 in 8 Canadians will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetimes.  It’s important to continue to raise funds and awareness for this cause.  This stamp set was designed by Patty Bennett as one of her achievements for reaching $1 million in sales.  Patty designed this set and dedicated it to her mother and grandmother who fought the battle against breast cancer.  Although, this stamp set was designed for breast cancer, it’s extremely versatile and can be used for so many different causes just by changing the ink colours.

Once I decided on the Ribbon of Courage stamp set I was drawn to the Flirty Flamingo flower print of the Pick a Pattern DSP.  This is one of my favourite packages of DSP from the 2017-2018 Annual catalogue because of it’s versatility.  I’ll be featuring this paper package in an upcoming blog post and class to go, so stay tuned!  And don’t forget for the month of October it’s buy 3 packages of DSP and get the 4th free.  To shop online or see which paper packages are included in this promotion click HERE.

I hope you enjoyed my entry to the #GDP108
